QUESTION TIME: This has been bothering me for a while, maybe I’m just being thick but I can’t figure this one out. If Aang was so confused about how to deal with Ozai when the comet is approaching, what exactly had be been planning to do when he was supposed to face Ozai in The Day of Black Sun?
We didn’t see Aang having a moral battle with himself before the invasion and he was a couple of hours off facing him. What exactly was his plan back then??? Plot hole or have I just forgotten some detail?

My guess is that since Ozai wouldn’t have been able to Firebend, Aang probably didn’t think it would have come to killing him. More likely, though, Aang was just so freaked out about everything at that point that he didn’t even think about what he was going to do.

But also until the last 6 episodes of the series it had been “defeat the fire lord.” Then it became “take out the fire lord” or “kill the fire lord.” I’m not sure if Aang had ever considered killing the fire lord up until the last few eps. of the series.
